Anthony B Stirs Controversy With New Single “Burn Iniquity”

In 1996 Keith ‘Anthony B’ Blair showed the reggae loving world that he had no intention of soft pedaling his wrath on society’s injustices when he released the hugely popular Fire Pon Rome. The song catapulted him into international attention and with it came other gems such as Raid the Barn. Fast track to 2013 and the conscious crusader is still dominating the music scene with even more biting social commentaries. With the need to take his career to the next level in the business, he has now joined forces with businessman Jyorken Kennedy of Master One Productions. For the fiery deejay there was no other candidate for the deal as Kennedy’s track record where business savvy and getting things done spoke volumes. Commenting on the partnership Anthony B said “This move is a necessary one to bring stability to my business affairs; I need intellectual people who have a good business and music sense who can work off their own initiative and that is Jyorken Kennedy. He has a proven record as a business executive. This will help me create a platform to discover and develop younger artistes.” With a strong conviction that reggae is still vibrant with gold to be mined from the genre he says it needs to be strengthened and that’s what he hopes Kennedy’s business savvy will do. The Master One CEO who now has exclusive booking for Anthony B will also handle other business aspects of the artiste such as distribution agent for his upcoming Rasta Love Album. The lead single from the album My Yes and My No has already taken off big time on the reggae loving circuit in Europe. If his performance in Germany is anything to go by where he did the song for almost half hour with the crowd still wanting yet more – the album is already earmarked for great things. “Anthony B is a major reggae superstar, arguably the best live performer in reggae-dancehall today. He has the potential to champion reggae to the world, and this partnership will realize great things,” said Kennedy of his new business partner. The sweet deal will also see Master One’s artiste Tydal touring with Anthony B in May. There are big plans in the making for him also. Looking ahead Anthony B’s performance calendar leaves little time for leisure as he is expected to be on all the major festivals. Hailing from Clarke’s Town, Trelawny, like most good singers Anthony B’s roots comes from the church where his grandmother and Seventh Day Adventist mother got him involved in the church and singing. It was there he honed his vocal skills before he moved on to the sound system getting his first taste of dancehall reggae on the Shaggy Hi-Power. With a desire to creating deeper inroads in the music business he moved to Portmore in 1988 hooking up with other aspiring deejays at the time such as Determine, Ricky General and Mega Banton. In 1993 Anthony B released his first single The Living Is Hard showing a glimpse of the vibrant artiste he would turn out to be. Several labels later he found the perfect match with Star Trail Records where Richard ‘Bello’ Bell spotted the genius inside. The rest where his liaison with that label is concerned is history as the hits kept coming Fire Pon Rome, Raid The Barn, Universal Struggle, Suffering Man and Seven Seals. There was no looking back for this vibrant performer whose tours took him all over the globe – from the Caribbean to the States, from Europe to Africa and India. Not one to be penned into any one niche he created a buzz with his exclusive digital release Life Over Death on his website www.anthonybmusic.net.2009 saw the deejay reinventing himself with his Rise Up album which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. That same year he also linked with international producer Raffles Van Excel to promote his mega popular single Girl You Hold Me – a song which showed a more romantic side to the artiste.2013 Anthony B and Kennedy are now looking forward to forging new alliances, breaking new grounds and taking reggae dancehall to the world.
