English Premier League giants Manchester United and Manchester City will meet in an early season derby on Sunday and die-hard United fan Usain Bolt – the Jamaican sprinting star, is doing everything he can to help his beloved ‘Red Devils’ to a win.
Bolt, who is a friend of former legendary United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and was even specially recognised at the team’s Old Trafford ground, shortly after his triple gold medal performance at the Olympic Games in London in 2012, is a well-known supporter of the club.
A video of Bolt urging new manager David Moyes to sign a top class midfielder went viral before the new boss dipped into the club coffers to purchase Marouane Fellaini.
Bolt appeared in a comical video with City star Sergio Aguero, released by Puma, with the sprinter sharing a football training session with the Argentinian.
In the video, Bolt takes the Argentina international through a number of drills; intentionally over-hitting passes and putting the superstar attacker through a litany of workouts in an attempt to wear him out before Sunday’s big match at the Etihad.
It doesn’t seem like the strategy had its desired effect though.
“Sergio’s caused United a lot of problems over the years, so I thought I’d drop in on him to see if I could tire him before the game on Sunday,” said Bolt.
“But turns out he’s pretty fit. I have to admit I was impressed with his qualities, United definitely need to keep him quiet but I’m sure they can do that and get the three points.”
Aguero, who like Bolt is sponsored by German sports good manufacturers PUMA, seemed fairly impressed with Bolt’s footballing skills: “Usain was terrible at the beginning, but I realised after a while that he was just trying to wear me out. When he started to play properly, he showed some skills though.
“He is not good enough to play for City, but I think he would have a good chance of getting into the United team.”
The video featuring the pair was released by PUMA, which was launching their latest pair of evoSPEED 1.2 football boots this week.
Bolt is a six-time Olympic gold medallist and is the world record holder in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
Aguero is one of the most feared strikers in world football, and has scored 36 goals in 68 games for the blue half of Manchester.
