Sanjay and Shelly Belly have found chemistry in the studio recording tracks together that translate well in the streets; tracks like Belleh and Chip Chop. It is no surprise that the Grung God, Bounty Killer, would be an artiste with whom the two would want to collaborate.
“We actually wanted Bounty on the Belleh remix along with the other artistes earlier this year but he said as much as he loved the single, it wasn’t his style. So when he heard Tekova… He said yes. This he is ready for!” Sanjay explained
Bounty himself hasn’t ventured into voicing dance tunes in the past so voicing on the ‘Tekova’ single, an obvious dance track, is a monumental occasion in Dancehall for all parties involved.
“Bounty hear the original at a street dance one night and tell me that him ready fi dis one, and when him voice the track him say this a dancehall history! It’s a big deal to have an icon like Killa rate your work and want to even work with you, trust me!” Shelly Belly added
While in Europe, Sanjay and Shelly Belly started shooting scenes for the original ‘Tekova’ video and are gearing up to record additional footage to include Bounty and the remix into the finished video product.
The two will also be releasing the complete Belleh documentary, which includes footage of their recent European tour, sometime during this Christmas season. The Tekova remix single will premiere on local radio this week with an official digital release expected later this month.
Sanjay is also putting finishing touches on his Reggae album that show the variation of his style, from dancehall beats to slower grooves, like his earlier single ‘Man Of My Word’.
