David Luiz fired home an unstoppable free-kick to send Brazil through to the World Cup semi-finals in an enthralling tie against Colombia on Friday night.

The defender hit a ferocious strike into the top corner from 30 yards out which Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina had no chance of stopping.

Fellow centre back Thiago Silva had given Brazil the lead after just seven minutes, bundling the ball home at the back post.

Colombia, who had a goal disallowed midway through the second half, scored with ten minutes to play as James Rodriguez scored from the spot.
