Businessman Patrick Powell Found Guilty

According to reports Businessman Patrick Powell was this morning found guilty of failing to hand over his licensed firearm to the police.

The verdict was handed down by Parish Judge Vaughn Smith in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

Powell was on trial after he was charged following allegations that he refused to hand over his licensed firearm to the police, who were probing the July 2011 murder of Khajeel Mais, for which Powell was charged but was acquitted last October.

His firearm was wanted for inspection in relation to the murder weapon however, the weapon was never recovered.

He will be sentenced on August 9.
