The 5th annual Award which aims at honouring those who have contributed to Image, Entertainment and Humanity was hosted by Shaggy on Saturday, September 30 at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn, New York. The singer took home the award for ‘Female Artiste of the Year 2017 and was honoured for her continued work within entertainment and her contribution towards empowering women across the world.
“It was a joy to bring home this award simply because music is such a major part of my life, and it serves as a medium through which I teach, empower, and help others grow overall. I have always been an advocate for female power. I seek to empower males as well, but women are oftentimes taken advantage of, and as a strong woman, the least I can do is share that strength,” D’Angel said.
The award came just weeks after D’Angel and Spice’s song, No Worries, made its way on to the US Reggae iTunes Charts and was the number two trending video on YouTube.
