Dancehall artiste Gully Bop is expected to be released from hospital today after a surgery. The artiste had been at the Medical Associates Hospital in St Andrew, where he had surgery to remove hernia on Sunday night.
With bookings going as far as July this year, Supreme Promotions’ Isaiah Laing said this was the perfect time for Gully Bop to remove the hernia that has been bothering him for some time.
Laing, who is part of Gully Bop’s booking team, said, “He did it already and is recuperating. Nothing life threatening. He will be out of hospital tomorrow (today).”
He also explained that this is a problem Gully Bop has had for some time.
“He had it for quite a while. When he came in to us he told us about it and we decided to do it after the busy period. Now we have a lot of bookings coming in,” Laing said.
While he will not be taking any bookings for this month, Laing says Gully Bop has numerous bookings going as far as July. So far, he said there is a confirmed booking for the artiste in Barbados and they are in discussions with promoters from Guyana, Trinidad, St Vincent and St Martin.
He added that there have also been calls from Canada, England, the United States and Europe. But without visas to go to these countries, Laing said, “We just have to put in the application and wait.”
With these numerous bookings coming in, Laing maintains that Gully Bop is not just an Internet sensation who rose to stardom a few months ago.
“The man big all over the world. We drop a new song last week and in two days it get 120,000 hits. It is not a fake thing, Gully Bop will be around for a long time,” Laing said.
