Hip-Hop’s next rising star could come from Jamaica

On March 2, 2015 Hip-Hop’s next rising star could come from Jamaica via a new global talent search entitled Take Back the Mic – The World Cup of Hip-Hop.

AMP IT UP! Take Back the Mic is a music competition putting the power of the music back in the hands of the fans. Here’s how it works: An unknown hip-hop talent will be discovered by global fans who will promote their favourite artiste for a chance to win big. The artiste who enters stands a chance to compete in the finals at the eMerge Americas Tech Conference on Miami Beach, Miami, Florida for a global audience.

“It’s more than just a show–it’s a quest to amplify the voices of a new generation.” says CEO Derrick Ashong. The search invites unsigned talent from three musical meccas with global impact – Kingston, Jamaica, Medellin, Colombia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
