Jamaica ‘Reggae Boyz’ team to face South Korea on Tuesday… Key players out!

The long distance to South Korea is thought to be behind the withdrawal of many of Jamaica’s top overseas-based players ahead of a friendly international scheduled for Seoul, South Korea on Tuesday.

Having not suited up for the country since the CONCACAF Gold Cup, three crucial players Jobi McAnuff, Garath McCelary and Wes Morgan continue to lead the list, but they will be joined by captain Rodolph Austin, Michael Hector, Alvas Powell, Dwayne Miller and Duwayne Kerr. Kemar Lawrence, Demar Phillips and Je-Vaughn Watson will also be joining the absentee list.

Reports indicate that some players did not feel they would be able to travel the distance and get back to their clubs in time to prepare for their league games on the weekend, despite it being the international break.

The situation is bound be a troublesome one for head coach Winfried Schaefer, who will be looking to get the team in shape ahead of a difficult World Cup qualifier semi-final round. Almost caught out against little-known Nicaragua, the team will have to start a lot stronger this time around, drawn in the group of death against Haiti, Costa Rica and Panama.
