An unbeaten half century from Bangladeshi Shakib Al Hasan guided the Jamaica Tallawahs to an in-the-end comfortable five-wicket win over Guyana Amazon Warriors in their top-of-the-table clash in the HERO Motocorp Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 showdown at Sabina Park Friday night.
Al Hasan, who prior to the encounter, struggled at the top of the Tallawahs batting order, made 54 not out, as Jamaica, set a modest victory target of 129, made 132 for five.
Al Hasan hit seven fours off 47 balls, and was best supported by captain Chris Gayle, who finished not out on 45, with four sixes and two fours, while batting at an uncharacteristic number seven in the batting order.
This was because Gayle had to wait until for several overs because of he was off the field during the Guyana innings due to an injury he picked up while attempting a catch while sprinting.
With Gayle, unable to open, the Tallawahs got off to their worst start of the season.
