“I think it’s a great anthem for people to use whenever someone’s trying to hold you down or bully you,” Katy Perry told the “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon when asked if the track is “about anyone we know.”
“That’s kind of what this record is about,” Perry said. “It’s just, like, 360-degree liberation. ‘Chained to the Rhythm’ was this political liberation, ‘Bon Appétit’ was this sexual liberation and now I think this, ‘Swish,’ represents the liberation from all the negative that doesn’t serve you.”
The feud between the two started back in 2014 when Taylor told Rolling Stone that her chart-topping single “Bad Blood” was about a fellow pop star who backstabbed her.
“She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour,” Swift said. “She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
It was widely speculated Perry was the performer. Swift would not mention by name because the two have had the same dancers work on their tours.
