The video, directed by RD Studios, captures the essence of the song with scenes of several individuals who have overcome challenges to become successful. One scene shows a youngster shunned by his peers when he wanted to participate in a race, but later becomes a champion athlete. Another scene features a Rastafarian who was, at one time, selling coconut water, but later becomes a successful business man selling bottled coconut water.
Nesbeth posted a sneak preview of the video on his Facebook page on January 2, much to delight of his fans. In response to the post, one fan, Genoa C., said: “OMG! Can’t wait to see the video of my favourite song. I have it on my phone and listen to it almost every day in the UK. Love it!”
My Dream was released in October 2015 and became an instant hit among reggae fans. In the three months following the release, the single has been viewed more than 100,000 times on YouTube. Aside from the enchanting rhythm and melodies, it’s the smooth and authentic lyrical content that instantly connects with those who share the poverty to privilege experience that the artist speaks of.
My Dream is just a glimpse of even greater things to come from Nesbeth. The artiste is proudly signed to the London-based label Entertainment Soul- a label which the artist frequently praises for the creative control offered to him in the production of My Dream and the Victory EP released in December 2014. The Victory EP features 5 entertaining tracks including the popular and thought provoking: Hundu Lay Lay and Marijuana. Other songs listed on the track are Jah Jah Handpick, Taste Victory and Even Though.
With just a few days into the New Year, the My Dream music video release is timely, and the ideal motivator for individuals with resolutions for a prosperous and productive 2016.
