Omar McLeod Honoured By the University of Arkansas

Olympic gold medallist Omar McLeod was over the weekend honoured by his alma mater, the University of Arkansas, for his outstanding achievement in last year’s Olympic Games in Rio.
The Jamaican won the gold medal in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 13.05. It was Jamaica’s first gold in the event.

He became the third Arkansas athlete to win Olympic gold – joining fellow Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown (2004 and 2008) and Michael Conley (1992) – and was recognised for the achievement during a NCAA basketball game on Sunday.

“Ladies and Gentlemen let’s join your 2016 Razorback (the nickname for Arkansas University) Olympic Champion Omar Mcleod and let’s call those hogs!” an announcer says in the video to loud cheers, while McLeod basks in the glory from centre court.

McLeod was runner-up- behind Olympic legend Usain Bolt – for the most recent RJR Sports Foundation National Sportsman of the Year award.
