Reggae singer Omi continues to glide up the Billboard Hot 100 chart landing in the top 5 (4th this week) just behind the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Fetty wap and Taylor Swift.
After 9 weeks on the coveted chart, Omi charges from 9 to the number 4 position. Digital song sales mark Omi’s achievement as “Cheerleader” rises 3-2 on Digital Songs, up 18 percent to 159,000 downloads sold.
This also marks 12 years since a Jamaican entertainer has landed in the top 5 position of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Sean Paul was the last Jamaican entertainer to hold the number 1 position with Get Busy in 2003.
