The Reggae Boyz were the runners up in the last tournament after falling to a 3-1 defeat by Mexico.
“It is a very interesting draw and I am happy with it. As I have said, it does not matter if we have to play someone and at this stage they are three crucial games and what we want to do as much as possible is get our foot up and running, especially in the first game against Curacao as we don’t want to take anybody lightly,” Whitemore said shortly after the draw event at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Tuesday.
The “Boyz” will kick off their campaign on July 9 against Cuaracao at the Qualcomm stadium, in san Diego California in what will be the first ever game in the Concacaf Gold Cup tournament for Cuaracao.
The two other Caribbean sides French Guiana have been drawn in Group A alongside Honduras, Costa Rica and Canada, while Martinique will clash in Group B with United States, Panama and either Haiti or Nicaragua.
