Shelly-Ann wins 100m and 4×100 in Switzerland

The ‘little pocket rocket’ Shelly Ann Fraser –Pryce from waterhouse stole the show in Switzerland on Thursday showing the world, along with those naysayers and doubters that ‘she Likkle but she Tallawah’ and that the double gold at the just concluded IAAF World Championship in was no joke.

It was double victory for Fraser- Pryce as she continued her excellent form from China, winning the women’s 100 meters and the 4×100 meters at the Zurich diamond league meeting in Switzerland.

The former Wolmerian, who wore the golden flower in her hair in the Far East, blew away the field in the West as she won the women’s 100 meters in 10.93 seconds. Thereby walking away with the Diamond trophy this season for the second time in her career, along with a cash prize of 40,000 US dollars to top it off.

Second in the event was blessing Ogkabare of Nigeria 10.98 seconds, Torie Bowie of the united states was third in 11.06 seconds, while Veronica Campbell-Brown finished sixth 11.22 seconds, and another Jamaican Natasha Morrison who stopped the clock at 11.30 seconds was good enough for seventh.

Less than two hours later Fraser -Pryce joined Sherone Simpson, Natasha Morrison and Elaine Thompson in setting a Diamond League and a meet record 41. 60 seconds to win the women’s 4×100 meters relay, ahead of who ………the USA 41.83 seconds and Trinidad 42.94 seconds.

Meanwhile Kaliese Spencer struggled and finished fourth in the women’s 400 meters hurdles in a time of 55.29 seconds, while the other Jamaican Janeive Russell was seventh in 55.98 seconds, the race was won by Zuzana

Hejnova of the Czech Republic 54.47 seconds.

Over in the field, Jason Morgan failed to recover from his Beijing struggles as he finished eighth in the men’s discus with a throw of 58.52 meters, the gold going to Poland’s Robert Urbanek as he hurled the implement some 65.78 meters.
