The deceased has been identified as Rushawn Duncan of Cricket River, Annotto Bay.
Police reports are that about 10:00 pm, a 16-year-old boy was on his way home. A number of his friends who knew he was en route decided to hide in bushes to frighten him.
The 16 year-old-boy reportedly had a knife in his hand, and when he got to the location of the friends they reportedly jumped from the bushes, and the 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest.
Police say the 16-year-old is in their custody, and will be handed over to the Child Development Agency (CDA).
The police have indicated that they don’t suspect foul play in the teen’s death, but they are carrying out a full investigation into the incident.
