Three Jamaicans Named In Gold Cup’s Best XI

Goalkeeper Andre Blake and defenders Jermaine Taylor and Kemar Lawrence were named in the Gold Cup’s Best XI.

Throughout the tournament, Blake showed why he was named the 2016 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year by making several impressive reactions saves.

Sadly a hand injury saw him make an early exit in the title game against the United States.

Kemar Lawrence was solid in the left-back spot for Jamaica throughout the tournament. He frustrated opponents to no end with his close-down speed. His sensational free kick in the semi-final game against Mexico was the icing on the cake.

American midfielder Michael Bradley took home the Golden Ball as tournament MVP. He was called into the group stage and played all 270 minutes of the knockout rounds.

Six Americans were named in the tournament’s Best XI. Bradley was joined by Graham Zusi, Omar Gonzalez, Darlington Nagbe, Jordan Morris, and Jozy Altidore.

The tournament’s Best XI is completed by Giancario Gonzalez of Costa Rica and Edson Alvarez of Mexico.
