Vybz Kartel To Be Featured On “Twerk It” Remix For Busta Rhymes Single, Which Ft Nicki Minaj

Iconic American rapper Busta Rhymes has announced that he wants Vybz Kartel to be featured on the remix for his Twerk It single, which features Nicki Minaj. The song was recorded in Patois and is a popular club banger in the United States (US).

Kartel and Busta Rhymes have collabo-rated before for a dancehall song called Wine Go Down. The song was released after Vybz Kartel’s incarceration and received little promotion.

However, the rapper believes the Twerk It remix, which will feature other international acts, could potentially become the remix of the year.

“The remix is gonna feature the incredible Vybz Kartel, Ne-Yo, T.I. Jeremih, French Montana and myself, of course. So, y’all can definitely look forward to hearing probably one of the most phenomenal remixes for all of 2013,” Rhymes had said in an MTV interview.

The STAR contacted dancehall producer and friend of Vybz Kartel Elvis Redwood for comment, and, according to him, the collaboration would be a positive look for dancehall music. He also disclosed that pre-recorded verses from Vybz Kartel’s catalogue might be used on the Twerk It remix, provided Busta Rhymes and his team are willing to use them.

“Busta Rhymes contacted us with the idea for the remix and as we already know Busta and Vybz are very close friends, so that made putting this remix together very easy and I am sure Vybz kartel shares the same view. They both did some recordings the last time Busta was here, and we still have those along with a few others we recorded around that time and so it’s now up to Busta’s camp to choose a verse from those pre-recorded tracks,” Redwood said.

Gaza Slim also commented on the collaboration, she shared a similar view to Redwood regarding the friendship between the artistes.

“The tune a guh shot, no doubt about it, Gaza way,” Slim said.

Busta Rhymes also explained why he decided to record Twerk It using Patois. “The reason why I chose to do it was because I love to do things in a way that stands alone, and I felt it was important to make a record that felt like it was a different, unique and new approach. I wanted to use the Jamaican dialect as a style without making a reggae song. So Twerk It is not a reggae record, it’s a hip-hop record but the Jamaican dialect is being used as a style,” Busta Rhymes said.

The official music video was recently released on YouTube and shows Nicki Minaj twerking up a storm to the infectious hip-hop beat. Twerking is the most popular female dance move in the US.
