The murder trial for popular Dancehall artiste Vybz kartel and 4(four) other co-accused in the killing of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams resumes today Monday January 20th, 2014 in the Home Circuit Court in Downtown, Kingston. Detective corporal Shawn Brown from the Communication, Forensic and Cybercrimes Unit at the Organised Crime Investigation Division said under the Interception of Communication Act, he was empowered not to answer certain questions. Detective corporal Shawn Brown claimed privilege when questioned by attorney Michael Lorne whether he saw when a previous witness and Digicel executive, Joseph Simmonds, signed is statement. Lorne, who represents accused Shawn Campbell alias ‘Shaw Storm’ also wanted to find out who gave the order to write to Digicel requesting call data and text message records. The lawyer pressed for answers but the presiding judge Justice Lennox Campbell intervened saying, under the law, the cop could refuse to answer. Meanwhile, text message and call data records presented by the detective corporal dominated proceedings at the Home Circuit Court trial last week. The 12-member jury was shown text messages and phone records allegedly between Kartel, his co-accused Shawn Storm, the deceased – Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, and an unknown person. Some of the text messages were allegedly sent by Williams to his girlfriend detailing that he was being taken to Kartel’s house to be killed. Some of the messages were reportedly sent on August 16, 2011, the same day Williams was allegedly taken to the Havendale, St Andrew house. Adidja Palmer aka Vybz Kartel is jointly charged with fellow entertainer Shawn Campbell aka Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Andre St John for murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. The Police believes that ‘Lizard’ was killed on August 16, 2011 two(2) years ago at Vybz karel’s Home in Havendale, St Andrew. Lizard was allegedly killed in relation to 2(two) missing guns, Lizard’s body is yet to be found.
