Incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel continues to see mainstream success with his mega hit single “Fever” featured on his last album King of the Dancehall.
The hit single debuted on the Billboard R&B Hip Hop Airplay chart this week at no. 50 but has now jumped to number 40.
The Linton “TJ” White-produced single was released in May 2016 and has been one of the biggest singles in dancehall over the last year. The single has already racked up a combined 55 million views on YouTube and the music video alone has over 200 million and growing fast.
“It feels good to know that your work is on a major platform such as the Billboard chart,” TJ Records head, Linton White, said. “It’s a lot of work and effort that we’ve put into the promotion of the song in the United States, and I really want to thank all the persons involved. There’s still a lot of work to be done.”
Fever is the second Billboard R&B Chart entry for Vybz Kartel. His collaboration, Ramping Shop with dancehall artiste Spice, stalled at number 76 on the R&B Hip Hop Songs Chart in August 2009.
In the meantime, Vybz Kartel is awaiting his appeal trial which scheduled for February 19, 2018.
