West Indies All-Rounder Andre Russell Gets One Year Cricket Ban

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell have received a one year ban from cricket after being found guilty by an independent anti-doping panel.

A three-member tribunal comprising Hugh Faulkner, Dr Marjorie Vassell and Dixieth Palmer, a former Jamaica cricketer, found Russell guilty of being negligent in filing his whereabouts on three separate occasions within a 12-month period in 2015.

According to the WADA code, if an athlete misses three tests in a 12-month period, it amounts to a failed dope test.

The ban takes effect from January 31, 2017 until January 30, 2018.
