Four Of Seven Western Union Outlets Reopen After Fraud Concerns

Operations have resumed at four Western Union outlets which were temporarily closed earlier this year.

Seven Western Union outlets in St. James, Trelawny, Hanover, St. Ann and St. Catherine had been temporarily closed by GraceKennedy Money Services as part of precautionary measures.

The resumption of operations at the four outlets followed new security measures that have been implemented to help to reduce the number of fraudulent transactions at the locations.

The re-opened outlets include one of the Spanish Town outlets.

The closures were reportedly linked to linked to the lottery scam which involved the transfer of ill-gotten funds from overseas through remittance services.

Efforts are said to be underway to secure the other three closed Western Union outlets for them to be also re-opened.
