Morgan Heritage takes home #Reggae Grammy award

Reggae group/band Morgan Heritage who was First-time nominee for the prestigious award walked away earlier with the as Grammy winner for Best Reggae Album at the 58th Grammy Awards.

The reggae group won for their album ‘Strictly Roots’, which topped the Billboard Reggae Album Chart when it was released last April.

4 Jamaican Reggae outfits were nominated for the 2016 Grammy award., in the category of best Reggae Album of the year.
‘Strictly Roots’ album from Morgan Heritage that won the grammy was 1 of the 4, others were Jah Cure’s ‘The Cure’, Luciano’s ‘Zion Awake’, and Barrington Levy’s ‘Acoustical Levy’.

‘Branches Of The Same Tree’ by Ghanaian singer Rocky Dawuni, also made the cut.

Surprisingly, none of the Marley Brothers made the Grammy nominations list this time around.

Last year, Ziggy Marley won the Grammy for his landmark album called ‘Fly Rasta’.

The Grammy Awards ceremony was held on February 15 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
