YardHype features Guyanese Reggae/Dancehall singer/songwriter “Jackie Hanover”

Jackie Hanover known popularly in Guyanese households by her moniker, ‘Jaxx’ is a 23 year old Reggae/Dancehall singer-songwriter. She first appeared on the Guyanese music circuit in 2010 as a contestant in the 2010 Carib Soca Monarch under the guidance of music veterans Charmaine Blackman and Bonny Alves. Subsequently, Jackie, a then newcomer in the industry, captured headlines in every major newspaper for her remarkable performance at the United for Haiti 2010 concert which featured over 40 artistes.

Months later, Hanover joined Guyana’spremier crossover band, Heatwave and has since performed at countless major events all across the country. Heatwave is also the official backing band of the GTT Guyana Star and Carib Soca Monarch competitions.
In 2011, Jackie competed in the GTT Jingle & Song competition and thereafter toured the country with several finalists at events hosted by the telecommunications giant.

Jackie Jaxx has shared the stage with some of the best local, regional and international artistes including Neyo, Machel Montano, Patrice Roberts, Omarion, Queen Ifrica, Bunji Garlin, Faye-Ann Lyons, Konshens, Busy Signal, Mavado and many others.

With a following of several thousand fans online, Hanover has released seven singles over the span of her career including her recent release, Nakupenda, an afrocentric love-song which many has described as having ‘great international appeal’. The artiste is currently un-signed working with independent producers and labels across the Caribbean.
